Simeone calls for Atleti calm
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has urged his players not to think too far ahead after sustaining their healthy advantage at the top of La Liga.
Simeone's side are seven points clear of Real Madrid with a game in hand following the 3-1 win over Valencia, which was achieved despite conceding first to Uros Racic's wonderful opener for the visitors to the Wanda Metropolitano.
Joao Felix equalised and second-half goals from Luis Suarez and Angel Correa maintained Atletico's lead at the Spanish summit with Real Madrid and Barcelona also landing comfortable victories over the weekend.
The victory over Valencia made it seven La Liga wins on the spin for Atletico and their only league defeat this season came in the derby away to Real Madrid with a brilliant home record of 28 points from 30 at the Wanda Metropolitano the bedrock of the title challenge.
Suarez's goal moved him up to 12 for the season in La Liga, making him appear a superb summer signing from Barcelona, and there is an opportunity to widen the gap with a favourable fixture list coming up.
Atletico head to Cadiz next and then face Celta Vigo, Granada and Levante twice before the Champions League resumes with a last-16 tie against Chelsea but Simeone has demanded his squad stay concentrated on the task at hand.
"The best way to live with this moment is to take it game by game," Simeone told Marca.
"We only think of Cadiz in our next game and to improve in each training session. We look at what is coming up and how we can improve."
