Pep full of admiration for Potter's Brighton
Manchester City will be expected to make light work of Brighton at The Etihad Stadium but Pep Guardiola has warned his players they need to?be at a "high standard" if they want to make it seven wins in a row.
City are flying with no defeats in 13, a sequence in which they have conceded just three goals.
And Guardiola was able to make changes at the weekend as they began their FA Cup campaign with a straightforward 3-0 romp past Birmingham in round three.
Brighton, in contrast, were taken the distance at Newport on Sunday night, eventually requiring penalties to see off the plucky League Two battlers.
It means Brighton have managed only one win inside 90 minutes since September and without a league win in eight they have been dragged into the relegation scrap.
City did the double over Brighton last season – thrashing them 4-0 at home and 5-0 away – and have won all six Premier League encounters against the Seagulls by an aggregate scoreline of 20-2, yet Guardiola has nothing but praise for Graham Potter's strugglers.
"They are a joy to watch and analyse," the Spaniard told reporters. "When you see them, you are concerned about the quality. I said to the players today that we will have to be at a high standard to compete against them.
"They have better stats in all departments except maybe the final third but what they create and how few they concede I am a big fan of Graham Potter. It will be a good test after a lot of games."
