Berenguer pens new City deal
Florin Berenguer has set his sights on winning more silverware with Melbourne City after penning a new one-year deal with the club.
City are priced at? to win the A-League grand final in the season ahead and Berenguer is keen to add to the Premiership/Championship double he helped win last year.
The French midfielder has spent the last three seasons with the club but now views Australia as a second home and is delighted to have signed up again for the 2021/22 campaign.
"I’m very happy to re-sign with Melbourne City. My family love this city and its people, and I love being able to play at AAMI Park and be part of this club," Berenguer said.
"This team is something special and we have worked so hard over the last few years to improve and achieve success. It was an amazing feeling to be crowned Champions last season and to reward the fantastic City fans.
"Winning trophies is why you play football and I want to win more with City."
Meanwhile Melbourne City Director of Football Michael Petrillo says the midfielder is a crucial part of the club's plans going forward and it was important to get him tied down.
"Florin has developed over the last three years into a key player in our squad," he added. "Florin is one of the most technically gifted players in the A-League and he is passionate about the style of football we play.
"I’m delighted that we have been able to secure his signature for another season, he is a Premiership and Championship player, and he wants to win more silverware in 2021/22."
