Rubin extends Salt Lake stay

Forward Rubio Rubin has signed a contract extension with MLS side Real Salt Lake.

Freddy Juarez's side are? to win the MLS Cup this season and Rubin is also priced up at 66/1 to be the league's top scorer in this campaign.

Real Salt Lake currently lie eighth in the MLS Western Conference with 16 points from 12 games.

The Claret and Cobalt finished 11th in the West last year with 22 points from as many games. The Utah based side have won the MLS Cup once, in 2009, and were runners up four years later.

Rubin signed for RSL in January after scoring seven goals in five games for USL Championship side San Diego Loyal, with the 25-year-old penning a deal until the 2024 season, with a club option for the 2025 campaign.

The forward began his career in the Netherlands with Utrecht, making 41 appearances for the Dutch side, scoring three goals.

After spells in Denmark and Mexico, Rubin returned to play football in the United States and he has seven caps for the USMNT.

Rubin has four goals in 12 games this season and spoke of his excitement at signing the new deal.
