Novak Djokovic is anticipating a "great battle" when he takes on Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals of the French Open.

The Serb is 2/1 to win Friday's "well-anticipated" showdown with his rival, who has dropped just a single set on his way to the semi-finals in Paris, priced at 2/5.

Let's face it, it's the biggest challenge that you can have playing on clay against Nadal on this court.

Nadal is eyeing a record-extending 14th French Open title, with the winner of the match going on to face either Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas in Sunday's final.

The pair have met 57 times over the years, with the Serb edging their head-to-head 29-28 but he has only won six of their 26 meetings on clay.

Nadal is known as the 'King' of the surface and the world number one is expecting a real battle on Friday as he looks to extend his quest for a 19th Grand Slam.

"Obviously it's a well-anticipated semi-final," Djokovic told reporters. "It's not like any other match. Let's face it, it's the biggest challenge that you can have playing on clay against Nadal on this court. It doesn't get bigger than that.

"There's that extra tension and expectations. The vibes are different walking on the court with him. But that's why our rivalry has been historic I think for this sport.

"I'm confident. I believe I can win, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Let's have a great battle."
